Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Terps Edged By Gophers, 1-0

ST. PAUL, MN – Maryland women's soccer was defeated by Minnesota at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium on Oct. 17. Maryland sits at 4-9-4 overall and 1-7-1 in conference play heading into their matchup at Wisconsin on Oct. 20. 

The Terps were unable to net any of their three shot attempts. Liz Beardsley finished with five saves. She now has 66 saves on the season, ranking top three in the Big Ten. 
  Ally Childers scored the game's lone goal for the Gophers less than a minute before halftime. Minnesota improved to 10-3-3 overall and 4-3-2 in the Big Ten. 

The XI Breaking Down The Action
  • Minnesota's goalkeeper made a goal-saving play in the 36th minute on a loose ball scramble in front of the net to keep the game scoreless.
  • The Gophers scored a goal seconds before halftime to take a 1-0 lead. 
  • Kelsey Smith produced Maryland's first shot in the 51st minute, which was blocked.
  • Liz Beardsley made a huge kick-save to keep it a one-score game in the 55th minute.
  • The Terps' best scoring opportunity came in the 63rd minute, after a nice dump-in by Halle Johnson to Kennedy Bell, who had a close-range low shot that was saved.
  • Beardsley continued her tough play, making a diving save across the left slide of the net to prevent a goal in the 76th minute.
