DORADO, PR -- The Maryland men's golf team
finished 11th of 17 teams competing in the Dorado Beach Collegiate at TPC Dorado Beach in Puerto Rico. The Terrapins posted their lowest round of the season with a score of 277 in the second round Tuesday.
Maryland finished with an overall score of 565 (288-277), which was 11 strokes under par. The third round Tuesday was canceled due to weather.
Junior Florian Huerlimann and freshmen
Manato Nakatani and
Yang Kuang led the Terps, as they tied for 28th and each earned a score of 140. Sunday was Kuang's best performance shooting three under with a career-best 69, followed by Huerlimann shooting even and Nakatani with a 73. Monday was the best performance for Nakatani and Huerlimann shooting five under (67) and four under (68) respectively. Both were career-lows. Kuang shot one under on Monday with a 71.
Sophomore Armand Papaziani earned a score of 141 (72-69), which was -3. His second row score of 69 was also a career-low. Graduate student
Ben Cooper earned a score of 145 (74-71) and Sophomore
Ronnie Kim earned a score of 148 (75-73).
The Terps will compete next at the Cleveland Palmetto Classic in Aiken, S.C. March 4-5, 2024.
