A strong stretch
  • Under head coach Michael Locksley, the Terps have gone through a strong stretch of results over the last few seasons. With a win over Auburn in the 2023 TransPerfect Music City Bowl, Maryland has won a bowl game in three straight seasons for the first time in program history. It was also the first time Maryland has played in a bowl game for three consecutive years since 2006-08.
  • The Terps have won at least seven games for three consecutive seasons, marking the first time since 2001-03 that Maryland has won seven or more games in three straight seasons. Maryland also won eight games in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 2002-03.
  • Over the last two seasons, Maryland has won 16 games, the fifth-highest mark among Big Ten teams. Only Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State and Iowa have more wins in that span.
  • The Terps' 16 All-Big Ten selections in 2023 were the program's most since joining the Big Ten in 2014.

Offensive success
  • In 2023, Maryland finished in the top-five in the Big Ten in seven major statistical categories: points per game (29.7), touchdowns (49), passing yards (3,626), completions (307), total yards (5,035), yards per game (387.3) and yards per play (5.9).
  • Maryland returns four starters on the offensive side of the ball in 2024, including All-Big Ten selections in running back Roman Hemby and wide receivers Tai Felton and Kaden Prather. TE Preston Howard also returns after starting 11 games during his redshirt freshman season. He caught his first career touchdown pass in Maryland's win over Auburn in the TransPerfect Music City Bowl.
  • Hemby has totaled 2,388 years from scrimmage in his career entering the 2024 season. That number ranks third among active Big Ten running backs, only trailing Ohio State's TreVeyon Henderson (3,314) and USC's Jo'Quavious Marks, a Mississippi State transfer. Hemby has compiled 1,740 career rushing yards along with 638 receiving yards.
  • Additionally, Prather (15.9 YPC) and Felton (15.1) each finished in the top-five in the Big Ten in average yards per catch, along with Marvin Harrison Jr. (Ohio State), Cam Camper (Indiana) and Roman Wilson (Michigan).

Defense!
  • The Terps are coming off a stellar season defensively as a unit, holding opponents to just 22.5 points per game in 2023, marking the fewest number of points allowed for the Terps since 2010 (22.2).
  • Seven starters return for Maryland's defense, including Third-Team All-Big Ten selection Ruben Hyppolite II and Honorable Mention All-Big Ten selection Quashon Fuller. Other returners include defensive linemen Jordan Phillips and Tommy Akingbesote, linebacker Kellan Wyatt and defensive backs Dante Trader Jr. and Glendon Miller.
  • Maryland's 17 interceptions last season were tied for fourth in the FBS and ranked second in the Big Ten, only behind Michigan which played two more games than the Terps. Maryland's returning defensive players combined for 10 of thosr 17 as Miller (four), Trader (two), Brown (two), Gotay and Scruggs all recorded at least one interception in 2024. Miller had a pick-six in Maryland's 31-13 win over Auburn in the TransPerfect Music City Bowl, the first for a Terp since 2018.
