
Maryland Ranked No.4 in Preseason Poll

College Park, MD -- Maryland field hockey has been ranked No. 4 in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Preseason Poll, as announced by the organization on Tuesday.
The Terps received 771 votes including two first place selections. This ranking comes following a 2023 season which saw Maryland win 17 games and advancing to the NCAA Quarterfinals.
The Maryland lineup is filled with depth across all positions. The Terps bring back a strong group of experienced players including, Rayne Wright and Hope Rose. Graduate student Emma DeBerdine is also returning to College Park, utilizing her final year of eligibility for the 2024 season. Deberdine was a pivotal member on the teams that won the Big Ten regular-season titles in 2019 and 2022. She will be rejoining the team after representing the United States in the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The team's leading scorer, Hope Rose, is back for her senior season. Rose finished the year with 28 points from 13 goals and two assists.
The Terps open their 2024 campaign with two home games against No. 7 Louisville on Friday, August 30th at 6 p.m. followed by a home game on Sunday, September 1 against Drexel.
