COLLEGE PARK, MD – Maryland women's soccer was defeated by No. 5 Michigan State 5-0 in its 2024 Big Ten opener at Ludwig Field on Sept. 12. 

The Terps could not reach the scoring column in the contest. They now sit at 3-3-3 on the season. 

Senior goalkeeper Liz Beardsley finished with four saves. Through nine games, she ranks among the top three in the Big Ten Conference with 34 saves.

The Spartans scored three goals in the first half. The Maryland defense kept Michigan State off the scoreboard for the first 19 minutes of the half, but Michigan State would get it's final two goals late in the second half.

With the win, the Spartans improved to 6-0-2 in 2024.
