
Bell’s Two Goals Lead Terps In Senior Day Shutout Victory, 4-0

The sophomore defender scored her two goals early in the fourth and sixth minutes. She became the first Terp to score twice in a game since Lisa McIntyre scored twice against James Madison on Aug. 8, 2023. Bell's first goal was assisted by Taryn Raibon, and Peyton Bernard assisted the second. Raibon's assist was the first of her career.
The Terps' lead continued to grow as sophomore forward Bernard scored Maryland's third goal of the game in the 24th minute after Ellie Egeland squeezed in a nice pass to the box that Bernard put through the legs of the VCU goalkeeper. Junior forward Delaney DeMartino then scored Maryland's fourth goal in the 70th minute after receiving a beautiful feed from Bell inside the box to put the ball in the back of the net.
Senior goalkeeper Liz Beardsley made 7 saves and earned her ninth career shutout, including her third of the season. Through eight games, she has 31 saves, which ranks her among the top three in the Big Ten Conference.

"I think it's an awesome boost especially going into Big Ten play, its a boost we all needed. It shows that we can score goals and defend with the shutout. Then, me personally I've played forward in years before, it proves that you can do that and get back to where you were."
Nezmer's Take
I'm really proud of the team's performance. The last couple days we've spent a lot of time in the final third, spent a lot of time of being efficient, having a better shot selection and I thought we did that today, " head coach Meghan Ryan Nezmer said. "But overall just really happy for the senior class. Some of them have been with me since the beginning, and to send them off on their senior day this way, I think that's the biggest thing that I take away from today."
