Maryland Falls 2-0 to Nebraska in Road Loss

The Terps wrapped up their road trip with a loss to the Huskers on Sunday.

LINCOLN, NE — Maryland (6-9, 2-6 Big Ten) wrapped up its midwest road trip with a clash with Nebraska (7-3-5, 2-3-3 Big Ten). The Huskers outshot the Terps 29-6 on their home field to claim a 2-0 win. 

After a barrage of shots and scoring opportunities that the Terps defended, Nebraska broke the ice on a penalty kick in the 39th minute on a goal from Lauryn Anglim. 

Nebraska's Ella Rudney capitalized on another Huskers scoring opportunity in the 62nd minute to put the Huskers ahead by two. 

Maryland goalkeeper Faith Luckey faced a career-high 29 shots and made a career-high 10 saves on Sunday, only relenting a pair of Husker goals. She didn't get much help offensively, but the Terps will return back to College Park on Thursday, where they boast a 6-2 record.

  • Luckey made her first save in the seventh minute.
  • Nebraska was awarded the match's first corner in the ninth minute. 
  • Maryland was given a yellow card in the 16th minute.
  • Luckey made back-to-back saves to keep the match scoreless in the 21st minute.
  • Luckey made her sixth save in the 37th minute.
  • A foul in the 39th minute set Nebraska up with a penalty kick that Anglim made to put Nebraska up 1-0.
  • Alyssa Abramson recorded the Terps' first shot in the 44th minute. 
  • Nebraska took a 1-0 lead into the break.
  • Kelsey Smith put a shot on goal in the 47th minute, forcing a Nebraska save.
  • The Huskers had a goal wiped off in the 51st minute. 
  • Luckey made another save in the 59th minute. 
  • Nebraska doubled its lead in the 62nd minute. 
  • Maryland earned a yellow card in the 74th minute.
