COLLEGE PARK, MD -- Tristen Rose and
Laurin Mack have been named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week and Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week, respectively. The Terps took down No. 13 Rutgers earlier in the week 2-0, and defeated Ohio State in Columbus 4-0 on Saturday.
Tristen Rose takes home his first Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week this season, helping anchor the defense to the two shutout victories. Rose recorded an assist in each match, which were his first two of the season and he played all 90 minutes in both matches.
Against No. 13 Rutgers,
Laurin Mack allowed no goals and recorded five saves while in the shutout at Ohio State, Mack recorded three saves. The goalkeeper lowered his goals allowed average to 0.58 and has shutouts in four consecutive games with seven on the season. This is the third Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week award for Mack this season.
The Terps hold a 9-0-3 record, their best start to a season since 2017 and are one of five unbeaten teams in D1 men's soccer. Maryland will be back in action Friday Night at Ludwig Field in front of the Crew to host No. 14 Indiana. The game will celebrate the anniversary of the 2005 National Championship team.
