Maryland volleyball ran into a talented Hoosiers squad on Halloween night in the Schanwald Pavilion.

COLLEGE PARK, MD — The Terps fell on Halloween to the No. 24 Indiana Hoosiers in three sets (25-19, 25-15, 25-12) on Friday night in the Schanwald Pavilion. The Hoosiers (17-4, 8-3 Big Ten) benefited from several lengthy runs in each set as they defeated Maryland (8-13, 1-10 Big Ten) on its home floor.

Ajack Malual collected eight kills, five digs and an ace to add to her impressive first season in the Big Ten. Duru Gökçen and Eva Rohrbach tallied a pair of blocks to continue to climb the conference's leader board.

Indiana utilized 10 total aces on Friday to overshadow a 10-dig night from Ally Williams that featured an ace of her own. The Terps will head on the road for a match against Northwestern as they look to earn a split on the week.

How it Happened:
Set 1:

Malual's first kill of the night got the match started.
Williams picked up her first ace of the night as the Terps jumped out to a 6-0 lead.
Haley Melby's first kill of the night put the Terps ahead 9-3.
Indiana got back into the set and took the lead with a 12-0 run.
A Hoosiers' ace tied the set at 9-9.
A kill from Malual gave the Terps their 11th point of the set.
Gökçen picked up a pair of kills to bring Maryland back within four, 18-14.
A Rohrbach kill gave Maryland its 15th point of the set.
A Melby ace made it 22-17, Hoosiers.
IU took the opening set 25-19.

Set 2:

The Hoosiers jumped out to a 4-0 lead.
A Malual kill brought the Terps back to a 4-3 deficit as the Terps put a 3-0 run together.
A Lily Wagner block cut the IU lead to 8-7.
The Hoosiers used a lengthy 8-0 run to claim an 16-7 advantage.
A Sydney Bryant kill ended the IU run.
Bryant and Melby collected kills late in the set.
Back-to-back Rohrbach kills extended the frame.
The Hoosiers won the second set 25-15.

Set 3:

Indiana hopped out to an early lead using back-to-back aces to claim an 8-3 advantage.
A third ace in the set gave the Hoosiers a 10-4 lead.
Malual's sixth kill of the night gave the Terps their fifth point of the set.
An Olivia Ruy kill made it 14-8 amidst a 4-0 Terps run.
Another Hoosiers ace made it 21-12 late in the set.
IU finished the night with a 25-12 set win.

12: The Terps improve to 12-8 all-time against IU.
33: Malual had an ace on Friday to move her season total to 33, the third-best mark in the Big Ten.
94: Rohrbach collected two blocks to reach 94 on the season, which is good for a tie for fifth in the conference.
101: With two blocks against Indiana, Gökçen pushed her season total to 101, which is currently the best mark in the Big Ten.
