No. 1 Maryland Welcomes No. 4 UCLA For Big Ten Tournament Semifinals

COLLEGE PARK, MD -- The Big Ten Men's Soccer Champions and No. 1 Maryland men's soccer team, coming off a strong regular season and 4-3 win at Michigan State, will take the top seed and host the Big Ten Men's Soccer Tournament. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm at Ludwig Field and the match will be televised on Big Ten Network.

  • The Terps had a fantastic 2025 regular season, holding a 12-0-3 record - completing an undefeated season for the first time since the 2016 season.
  • Maryland holds a 8-0-2 record in B1G play
  • The Terps are just one of two unbeaten teams left in Division I.
  • With the win over Michigan State, Maryland won the Big Ten Men's Soccer Championship and the right to host the Big Ten Tournament.

  • The Terrapins completed the 2025 season with a combination of hungry returners and talented newcomers who led the team to an undefeated season - the first since 2016 - an No. 1 ranking
  • The 2025 roster features 13 seniors and four juniors, good for 17 upperclassmen out of the 29 man roster. The squad also features 18 returners from the 2024 team, with eight in the projected starting 11.

BIG TEN PLAYERS TO WATCH
  • Three Terps were named to the 2025 Big Ten Players to Watch list. The players are Luca Costabile, Leon Koehl, and Sadam Masereka.
  • Sadam Masereka scored a team high of nine goals this regular season, after coming off of a 2024 season with four goals and two assists.
  • Senior captain Luca Costabile headlines the back row for the Terps in 2025. In the two 2024 NCAA Tournament games for the Terps, Costabile netted one goal and added two assists. 
  • Junior Leon Koehl will look to build off his terrific 2024 season where he was named First Team All-Big Ten after netting seven penalty kick goals for the Terps, a mark that led the NCAA.

  • The Terrapins have appeared in the Big Ten Men's Soccer Tournament 10 times since joining the Big Ten in 2014, becoming champions three times and semifinalists three times.
  • Prior to joining the Big Ten, the Terps appeared in every conference tournament from 1996 to 2013.
  • During their last undefeated season, the 2016 team beat Michigan 3-2 at home, then went on to beat Michigan State 2-1 before winning the tournament in a 2-1 win against Wisconsin.
  • The Terps beat Indiana and Michigan in the 2018 Big Ten Men's Soccer Tournament before going on to win the 2018 national championship.
  • In 2019, No. 5 Maryland upset No. 4 Northwestern in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals, beating the Wildcats 1-0.
  • In 2015, No. 3 Maryland upended No. 1 Ohio State 2-0 in the Big Ten Tournament finals.
  • The Terps inaugural appearance in the Big Ten Tournament in 2014 ended in a championship, with Maryland taking down Indiana 2-1, which included a 25-yard free kick.
  • In 2008, Maryland won its third ACC Championship, defeating Virginia 1-0, before going on to win a national championship. 
  • Since his 1993 arrival as coach, Cirovski has totaled six ACC Tournament championships and three Big Ten Tournament championships.
  • Maryland has the 4th-most Big Ten Tournament championships, stemming from their three season win streak from 2014-2016.
