ROSEMONT, Ill. – University of Maryland sophomore tight end Dorian Fleming and offensive lineman Alan Herron have been named Honorable Mention All-Big Ten as the league announced its honorees on the offensive side of the ball on Thursday.
In total, Maryland had eight All-Big Ten selections on defense, three on special teams, and two on offense this season. The 13 total players earning All-Big Ten recognition is tied for the second most by a Maryland team since joining the Big Ten in 2014.
Fleming finished his first season as a Terp tied for second among Big Ten tight ends with 40 receptions for 351 yards. He ranked third on the team with three receiving touchdowns.
Herron started all 12 games for the Terps at right tackle. The Westmoreland, Jamaica native helped anchor a Maryland offensive line that allowed just nine sacks, tied for the fifth fewest in the nation and the second fewest in the Big Ten. A durable force along Maryland's offensive line, Herron started all 24 games during his two seasons as a Terp.
The Big Ten also announced each team's Sportsmanship Award Honoree with long snapper Ethan Gough being chosen as Maryland's representative.
