Terps Split Matches With No. 12 Rutgers, Fall 21-20

COLLEGE PARK, MD – Maryland split the 10 matches with No. 12 Rutgers in the final home match of the season, but came up just short in a 21-20 defeat.
Braxton Brown and Branson John provided the biggest highlights of the night. Brown defeated 2024 Big Ten Champion Dylan Shawver by a score of 6-3, using a reversal and late takedown to his advantage. John, a true freshman, took out 2021 All-American and 23rd-ranked Jackson Turley, by a score of 5-4. John scored a late takedown and rode out the rest of the way to secure a win.
Jaxon Smith and Ethen Miller each added major decision victories over top-30 opponents. Seth Nevills ended the night winning on disqualification due to stall calls.
Seven seniors were honored before the match: Seth Nevills, Chase Mielnik, Kevin Schork, Sam O'Brian, Conner Quinn, Nick Cambria and Gaven Bell.
