COLLEGE PARK, MD -- Maryland will travel for the first time this season, heading to Norfolk, Va., for a Sunday night matchup against Old Dominion at 6 p.m. The Terps enter the contest riding a three-game home winning streak and will look to continue their momentum on the road.
THREE STRAIGHT SHUTOUTS
- A goal from Ellie Egeland off an Ava Morales corner lifted the Terps to a 1-0 win over UMBC, extending their shutout streak.
- Faith Luckey posted her third career shutout.
- Maryland is 3-0 for the first time since 2021.
- The Terps have three shutout victories, marking their first 3-0 shutout start since 1996.
- Maryland has held opponents scoreless through the first three matches of a season for the first time since 2011.
Ellie Egeland recorded her first career goal in the match against UMBC.

- Last time Maryland faced the Big Blue was September 24, 1995, with the Terps winning 6-0.
- This will be only the second meeting between the two teams.
- Old Dominion is currently 1-0-1 and comes off a 1-0 home win against William & Mary.
New Leadership
- The Terrapins are 3-0 under head coach Michael Marchiano in 2025, winning three consecutive matches for the first time since Sept. 3-10 2023. All three of those wins also came in shutout fashion.
- Marchiano was appointed as the program's head coach in December 2024 after serving as interim head coach during the latter part of the 2024 season. A Maryland soccer alumnus and two-time national champion, he is determined to guide Terrapin soccer back to championship form.
- In the 2023–24 season, Marchiano served as Maryland's women's assistant coach, helping the Terrapins compile a 34-9-3 record and make consecutive NCAA Quarterfinal appearances.
B1G Players to watch
- Kelsey Smith, Emily Lenhard and Tahirah Turnage-Morales have all been named 2025 B1G Players to Watch.
- Kelsey Smith, forward, and now a redshirt junior, played all 19 matches last season with 14 starts, logging 877 minutes. She recorded two goals, two assists, and five shots in a single match.
- Emily Lenhard, a midfielder, had an impressive 2024 freshman season, playing all 19 games with 13 starts and logging 1,185 minutes. She finished with one goal, three assists, and multiple multi-shot performances. She's now entering her sophomore year.
- Tahirah Turnage Morales, a defender and redshirt sophomore in 2024, started all 19 matches, logging 1,612 minutes. She played the full 90 minutes in 16 games and took two shots on the season.
