
Terps’ Win Streak Snapped in Four-Set Loss to Wake Forest

Maryland was defeated for the first time in the month of September on Sunday.
WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Terps' (5-3) weekend came to a close with a four-set loss (25-21, 23-25, 22-25, 22-25) to Wake Forest (4-4) on Sunday afternoon.
A strong first set from Maryland featured four blocks, an ace from Addie Canady and a string of runs in a 25-21 set win. The Demon Deacons responded to take each of the next three sets to hand the Terps their first loss in their last six matches.
Ajack Malual led the team with 21 kills and was responsible for a team-high 22.5 points. Haley Melby had nine kills and Ally Williams had three aces in the loss.

Set 1:

- A kill from Olivia Ruy brought the Terps back within two, 11-9.
- A timely kill from Malual brought Maryland to a 13-12 deficit.
- Back-to-back kills from Malual and Eva Rohrbach tied the set at 15-15.
- An ace from Addie Canady gave Maryland a 19-18 lead.
- A kill by Lilly Wagner put the Terps up 23-21 late in the set.
- Maryland finished the first set on a 4-0 run to take the set, 25-21.
- A kill from Olivia Ruy put the Terps up 5-3 in the second set.
- A 3-0 Maryland run built a 9-5 lead.
