WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Terps' (5-3) weekend came to a close with a four-set loss (25-21, 23-25, 22-25, 22-25) to Wake Forest (4-4) on Sunday afternoon. 

A strong first set from Maryland featured four blocks, an ace from Addie Canady and a string of runs in a 25-21 set win. The Demon Deacons responded to take each of the next three sets to hand the Terps their first loss in their last six matches. 

Ajack Malual led the team with 21 kills and was responsible for a team-high 22.5 points. Haley Melby had nine kills and Ally Williams had three aces in the loss. 

How it Happened:
Set 1:

• Maryland jumped out to a 3-0 lead on a pair of Wake Forest attack errors.
• Back-to-back aces from Wake Forest put the Demon Deacons ahead, 6-5. 
• A kill from Olivia Ruy brought the Terps back within two, 11-9.
• A timely kill from Malual brought Maryland to a 13-12 deficit. 
• Back-to-back kills from Malual and Eva Rohrbach tied the set at 15-15.
• An ace from Addie Canady gave Maryland a 19-18 lead. 
• A kill by Lilly Wagner put the Terps up 23-21 late in the set. 
• Maryland finished the first set on a 4-0 run to take the set, 25-21.

Set 2:

• A kill from Olivia Ruy put the Terps up 5-3 in the second set.
• A 3-0 Maryland run built a 9-5 lead. 
• A kill from Malual stemmed a 3-0 Wake Forest run and kept Maryland up 13-10.
• Wake Forest rallied to even the set at 16-16.
• A kill from Melby put Maryland up, 19-16.
• A Williams ace gave the Terps a 21-18 advantage. 
• Wake Forest finished Set 2 on a 7-2 run to win the set 25-23 and even the match.

Set 3:

• Another ace from Williams put Maryland up, 3-1. 
• Wake Forest stormed back to take a 6-4 lead. 
• A 6-1 run from the Demon Deacons put them ahead, 13-9.
• A 7-1 run from Maryland that featured another ace from Williams evened the set at 17-17.
• Wake Forest went on another run to take a 21-17 lead.
• The Demon Deacons took the third set, 25-22.

Set 4:

• A kill from Melby sparked a 2-0 lead to start the set.
• A kill from Malual put Maryland back ahead, 4-3.
• Wake Forest put together a 3-0 run to take a 7-6 lead. 
• Malual's 19th kill of the day put Maryland on top, 10-9.
• A 8-2 run from Wake Forest put the Demon Deacons back on top, 18-15.
• Wake Forest won the final set by a score of 25-22.
