- Maryland has won 17 straight non-conference games, which is the longest active streak in the FBS. In all 17 games, the Terps have allowed less than 30 points.That is the longest such streak by any Big Ten team over the last 45 years.
- In the Locksley era (2019-pres.), the Terps are 19-1 in non-conference games.Maryland's average of 40.1 points per game in non-conference play ranks seventh in the nation, only trailing Tennessee, Alabama, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, LSU and Ohio State. The Terps have scored 30+ points in 16-of-20 non-conference games under Locksley.
- The Terps have committed no more than two turnovers in any of their last 26 non-conference games. The only FBS teams with longer active streaks (includes bowl games) are LSU (34), Ohio State (31), Texas (29) and Penn State (28).

- The Terps have outscored the Tigers 129-26 in those three contests, posting at least two passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns in each game.
- The most recent matchup came in the 2023 season opener, where Maryland delivered a dominant 38-6 win at SECU Stadium. The Terps jumped out to a 21-0 first-quarter lead and never looked back, piling up 449 total yards, including 283 through the air and 166 on the ground.

MALIK Washington Off to Historic Start
- Malik Washington leads all FBS true freshmen with 512 passing yards and five touchdowns through two games. He is just the fourth Maryland quarterback in the last 30 seasons to reach both marks after two games, joining: Taulia Tagovailoa (2021), Josh Jackson (2019), and C.J. Brown (2013).
- Washington's 512 yards are the third-most by a true freshman through two career games in the Power Five since 2020, trailing only Washington State's Jayden de Laura (548) in 2020 and Georgia Tech's Jeff Sims (521) in 2020.
- He is also tied for the most completions (46) by a Power Five true freshman through their first two games during that span, matching Cal's Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele.
- Washington's 3 TD passes in his career debut against FAU were the most in a true freshman's debut in the Big Ten since 2009 (Michigan's Tate Forcier), the most by a true freshman in a Power Conference since 2018 (Clemson's Trevor Lawrence) and the most by a true freshman in a debut against an FBS school since UCLA's Josh Rosen in 2015.
- Washington's 27 completions in that game are the most by a Maryland true freshman quarterback in a game in school history.
- Washington's 27 completions were the most by a true freshman in a Power Conference debut since Jaxson Dart (USC) had 30 against Washington State in 2021.

Team Trends & Milestones
- Maryland has extended its home dominance under Head Coach Michael Locksley, improving to 14-0 all-time in non-conference home games. With the 20-9 win over Northern Illinois, the Terps also pushed their nation-leading non-conference win streak to 17 games.
- Maryland has started 2-0 in four of the last five seasons, and each of the last three times (2021, 2022, 2023), the Terps went on to start 3-0.
- Since 2012, Maryland ranks among the national leaders in early-season consistency. The Terps are one of just eight Power Conference programs to record 11 or more 2-0 starts during that span, tied with Ohio State, Michigan State, Ole Miss, and Oregon, and trailing only Alabama, Georgia, and Oklahoma.
- Defensively, the Terps have allowed just 16 points through two games, their fewest since 2001, when they allowed only 10 combined points in Weeks 1 and 2. This marks the first time since 2003 Maryland has held back-to-back opponents under 10 points. The last time they held opponents under 10 in three straight games was 1982.

Offensive Playmakers
- Dorian Fleming continues to make history at tight end. He became the first Terp tight end since Chig Okonkwo (2021) to score touchdowns in each of his first two career starts. He's just the fifth tight end in program history to do so.
- Fleming has now caught a touchdown in four consecutive games, tied for the longest active streak in the FBS, alongside: O'Mega Blake (Arkansas), Justin Bowick (Illinois), and Corri Milliner (UAB)
- Shaleak Knotts has emerged as a deep threat, becoming one of just two Big Ten players with multiple receiving touchdowns of 25+ yards this season (joining USC's Makai Lemon).

Dorian Fleming became the first Terp tight end since Chig Okonkwo (2021) to score touchdowns in each of his first two career starts.
Defensive Dominance Continues
- Maryland's defense ranks among the Top 10 nationally in several key categories through two games:
- Second in Red Zone Defense (0.33%)
- Tied for fourth in Turnover Margin (+5)
- Tenth in Scoring Defense (8.0 PPG allowed)
- The Terps held Northern Illinois to just 91 passing yards, their second time holding an opponent under 100 yards through the air since 2023. They have also allowed just one sack through two games.
- Turnovers have been a key theme, with six different players recording interceptions, the most in the FBS. Last season, only five Terps had interceptions all year.
- Sidney Stewart is off to a breakout start, becoming the first Maryland true freshman since at least 2007 to record a sack in each of his first two games. He ranks 2nd in the Big Ten with 4.0 tackles for loss.
- Daniel Wingate (14 tackles) and Trey Reddick (11 tackles) each set career highs against NIU. Wingate currently ranks 3rd in the Big Ten in total tackles, while Reddick ranks 7th.

New Faces
- Head coach Michael Locksley was active in the transfer portal this offseason as Maryland football welcomes 17 transfers.
- Offensive lineman Rahtrel Perry was the Terps highest-rated get in the transfer portal per 247Sports. He ranked as the No. 11 offensive tackle in the class after earning All-NEC First Team honors for Central Connecticut State last season.
- Defensive back Jamare Glasker arrives in College Park after rating as a Top-20 player at his position nationally in the portal rankings. He started nine games during the 2024 season at Wake Forest, finishing the year with 37 tackles (33 solo) to go along with four pass breakups, three tackles-for-loss and an interception.
- Quarterback Justyn Martin is another portal addition who ranked in the Top-20 nationally at his position. While with UCLA last season, Martin started vs. Penn State and went 22-of-30 for 167 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions. Martin is a former four-star recruit according to 247Sports, ESPN and Rivals. He was ranked No. 228 overall by Rivals and the No. 14 pro-style quarterback in the class of 2022.
- Wide Receiver Jalil Farooq brings a wealth of experience to College Park as he returns home for his final season. The Lanham, Maryland native played in 36 career games at Oklahoma across four seasons from 2021-24, making 25 starts. In those games, he totaled 89 receptions for 1,287 yards and seven TDs. He also made a significant impact in the return game, compiling 708 yards on 32 kickoff returns.

Coach Locksley was active in the transfer portal this offseason, bringing in 17 transfers — including Maryland's highest-rated addition, Rahtrel Perry, according to 247Sports.
