Maryland Falls to Minnesota in Conference Clash

The Terps are back in action at home on Oct. 8.
MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Maryland women's soccer fell to Minnesota in a road conference match on Friday night. The Gophers used a quartet of goals to earn a 4-0 win and drop the Terps to 3-8-1 (0-6 Big Ten) in 2026.
Faith Luckey made six saves in the first half before Meredith Fisher made two in the second half. Minnesota out-shot the Terps 23-9 in the 10th all-time meeting between the two schools and improved to 7-3-2 (3-2-1 Big Ten). The Gophers are unbeaten at home in 2026.
Maryland is back in action against Nebraska on Oct. 8.

- Luckey made back-to-back saves in the 13th minute.
- Mckinley Heaven put a shot on goal in the 20th minute, forcing a Minnesota save.
- Minnesota's Matigann Vixayvong put the Gophers on the board with a goal in the 24th minute.
- Peyton Bernard put a shot on goal in the 25th minute.
- Luckey made three more saves in the half's closing minutes, but Maryland trailed 1-0 at the break.
- Westlund doubled the Gophers' lead with a goal in the 49th minute.
- Westlund scored again in the 55th minute to extend the lead.
- Katelyn Rigg scored the Gophers' fourth goal in the 58th minute.
- Fisher made a save in the 77th minute.
- Fisher made another save in the 84th minute.
- Ellie Egeland put a shot on goal in the final seconds.
- Minnesota closed out its win.
