Schedule features three matches on the XFINITY Center Main Court this season. Maryland will welcome Nebraska on Oct. 3, UCLA on Oct. 9, and Penn State on Nov. 11 all to be played on the Main Court.
The Terrapins will also host three matches on the XFINITY Center Main Court this season. Maryland will welcome Nebraska on Oct. 3, UCLA on Oct. 9, and Penn State on Nov. 11. The program has set attendance records in back-to-back seasons while hosting matches on the Main Court.
In 2024, Maryland hosted No. 2 Nebraska before a program-record crowd of 13,071 fans, setting the school's single-match attendance record. Last season, a crowd of 5,093 attended Main Court Mania against No. 16 Penn State, marking the second-highest home attendance figure in program history.
"We love the unique opportunity to compete in both the XFINITY Center and the Schanwald Pavilion this season. Our goal is to create an incredible atmosphere in both venues, and we're excited to see our fans pack both gyms this fall," Head Coach Adam Hughes said.
Maryland opens the season on Aug. 28 with a road matchup against Howard before traveling to Nashville, Tennessee, for the inaugural Big Ten/SEC Challenge Week.
The Terrapins will face Vanderbilt on Tuesday, Sept. 1, at Historic Memorial Gymnasium in Nashville. The meeting will mark the first-ever matchup between the two programs.
Maryland will then take on Arkansas on Wednesday, Sept. 2, also at Historic Memorial Gymnasium. The Terrapins hold a 2-0 all-time record against the Razorbacks, with the most recent meeting coming in 2019, when Maryland won in four sets.
The Terps return home for a stretch of five consecutive home matches. Maryland hosts UMES on Sept. 6 in its home opener, followed by George Mason on Sept. 7.
Maryland will then host a home tournament beginning Sept. 11 against Seton Hall. The Terrapins defeated Seton Hall in three sets last season in College Park. The following day, Maryland will face Princeton before concluding the tournament against Saint Peter's on Sept. 13.
Maryland then travels to Greenville, North Carolina, for a three-day tournament hosted by ECU. The Terrapins open the tournament against Campbell on Sept. 17, followed by a matchup with host East Carolina on Sept. 18. Maryland concludes both the tournament and its non-conference schedule against Old Dominion on Sept. 19.
The Terrapins begin Big Ten play with back-to-back road matches, opening at Purdue on Sept. 24 before traveling to Indiana on Sept. 26.
Maryland returns home to start October with four consecutive home contests, beginning against Iowa on Oct. 1. The Terrapins will then host Nebraska on Oct. 3 in the XFINITY Center Main Arena. When Nebraska visited College Park in 2024, Maryland set a single-match attendance record with 13,071 fans at the XFINITY Center.
The home stand continues with UCLA on Oct. 9, also in the XFINITY Center Main Arena, before Maryland hosts Northwestern on Oct. 10 back in the Stephen M. Schanwald Pavilion.
Maryland returns to the road for matches at Wisconsin on Oct. 16 and Minnesota on Oct. 17.
The Terps return to College Park to face Illinois on Oct. 23, followed by Michigan State on Oct. 25.
Maryland closes October with a West Coast road trip, traveling to Oregon on Oct. 30 before facing Washington on Nov. 1.
The Terrapins return home for their final three conference home matches, beginning with USC on Nov. 5 and Michigan on Nov. 7. Maryland concludes its home conference slate against Penn State on Nov. 11. Last season's matchup against the Nittany Lions went the distance in a thrilling five-set contest and drew the second-largest crowd in program history, with 5,093 fans inside the XFINITY Center. This season's matchup will once again be played in the XFINITY Center Main Arena.
Maryland wraps up the regular season with road matches at Rutgers on Friday, Nov. 13, and Ohio State on Tuesday, Nov. 17, in Columbus.
The Big Ten Conference will usher in a new era of collegiate volleyball this fall with the launch of its inaugural conference tournament, scheduled for Nov. 20-25 at Fishers Event Center, home of Major League Volleyball's Indy Ignite. The top 15 teams in the regular-season standings will qualify for the tournament, bringing the nation's premier volleyball programs together in one venue for the first time. Three matches will be played in the opening round of the tournament, followed by four second-round matches. The competition will then progress through the quarterfinals and semifinals, culminating with the championship match slated for November 25. One off day will be built into the tournament schedule. The Big Ten regular-season schedule will decrease from 20 to 17 matches, in a single, round-robin format to account for the tournament.
Match times and television designations will be announced at a later date.
Maryland returns several key contributors from the 2025 season, including Sydney Bryant, Haley Melby, Eva Rohrbach and Duru Gökçen. The Terps also welcome a highly regarded freshman class ranked No. 16 nationally by Prep Dig, featuring Ava Brown, Raina Chwialkowski, Brooklynne Brass, Marlee Sivak and Elayna Davidson.
The 2026 season officially begins with the Fifth Annual Big Ten Volleyball Media Day on Aug. 3 in Chicago. The upcoming season will also feature the inaugural Big Ten/SEC Volleyball Challenge Week, culminating in a doubleheader at Wrigley Field on Sunday, Sept. 6.
