7/8/2026 11:00:00 AM | Field Hockey, Men's Lacrosse, Men's Soccer, Track & Field, Women's Cross Country, Gymnastics, M Club
COLLEGE PARK, MD – Nine Terrapins have been awarded M Club Rodman Postgraduate Scholarships in 2026. The M Club awards $5,000 scholarships yearly to former student-athletes looking to continue their education post-graduation. Overall, the M Club awarded $50,000 in postgraduate scholarship support.
This year's recipients are: Katie Altieri (Cross Country/Track & Field '25), Amanda Eliker (Cross Country/Track & Field '25), Nathalie Fiechter (Field Hockey '23), Margot Lawn (Field Hockey '23), Mitchell Lloyd (Men's Lacrosse '26), Albi Ndrenika (Men's Soccer '26), Emma Pegg (Cross Country/Track & Field '25), Aleka Tsiknias (Gymnastics '23) and Saxon Wolcott (Men's Soccer '26).
These former student-athletes have demonstrated excellence in athletics and academics at the University of Maryland. They received at least one varsity letter from the university and have earned a bachelor's degree from the university. They must not be an active member of a college athletics roster for the 2026-27 academic year. They must have applied to (or enrolled in) a graduate program in an accredited institution for the purpose of pursuing an advanced degree.
"One of the strongest themes across this year's applications was the idea that being a Maryland student-athlete does not end at graduation," said Marjorie Bollinger Baker (Cross-Country/Track & Field '02), chair of the selection committee. "Instead, it creates a lasting sense of belonging to the Terp family. Many of our recipients this year are alumni who were already enrolled in their graduate programs. There was a constant theme of reflection on how the M Club and the University of Maryland continue to be part of their journey long after competition ends, reinforcing the idea that being a Terp truly means being a Terp for Life. Our committee was especially inspired by how many applicants described relationships with coaches, teammates, and Maryland programs as experiences that shaped them personally, influenced their professional paths, and led them toward careers centered on helping others. That lasting impact reflects both the lifelong influence of Maryland and the M Club mission of Athletes Helping Athletes."
"As the Executive Director of the M Club and a former Terrapin student-athlete, I was truly inspired by the journeys of our 10 Rodman Scholarship recipients," said Executive Director of the M Club Renaldo Nehemiah. "Their hunger for excellence extends far beyond the playing field, using the same competitive spirit that fueled their athletic success as the foundation for their continued educational and professional pursuits. While our role in your journey may be modest, our belief in your future is immeasurable. We are proud to support these remarkable student-athletes as they pursue lives of purpose and leadership beyond the University of Maryland."
Katie Altieri (Cross Country/Track & Field '25)
Grad School: Delaware, School Psychology

Altieri also excelled academically, earning Dean's List and Academic All-Big Ten honors during her Terrapin career. From strong Big Ten Championship performances to personal-best times in the 1500m, 3000m and 5000m, she developed into one of Maryland's most reliable distance runners across four seasons.
"I am incredibly grateful to the M Club for their continued support throughout my four years as an undergraduate, and now through the M Club Rodman Post Graduate Scholarship. My experience as a track and field athlete here has shaped both who I am as a person and the professional that I aspire to be. The M Club's investment in student athletes beyond their sport reflects the true meaning of being a Terp: contributing to something bigger than yourself and using your resources to positively impact others. I am honored to receive this support as I continue my graduate studies to be a school psychologist, and it means so much that the M Club believes in this as well. Go Terps!"

Working with athletic trainers, strength and conditioning coaches, and rehabilitation specialists - whether I was the patient or shadowing them - gave me insight into the impact that physical therapists make. Seeing various athletes across sports within their rehabilitation journeys ignited and further inspired my interest in pursuing a career in physical therapy. My time as a student-athlete flew by way too fast, but it shaped my future in more ways than one. The skills I learned at the University of Maryland continue to lead me as I pursue a career as a physical therapist committed to improving my patients' health and overall well-being. In 2012, Rodman was inducted into the Maryland Athletics Hall of Fame posthumously for meritorious service in recognition of his lifelong commitment to Maryland student-athletes.
