Maryland Field Hockey Announces Hiring Of Assistant Coach Dean Schiller

COLLEGE PARK, MD - Maryland Field Hockey has announced the hiring of Dean Schiller as an assistant coach. Schiller returns to College Park after an accomplished international playing career with the U.S. Men's National Team, bringing high level playing experience and a passion for developing the next generation of student-athletes.
Dean Schiller returns to Maryland after an accomplished international playing career with the U.S. Men's National Team. A member of the senior national team from 2022-25, Schiller also represented the United States at the U16, U18 and U21 levels.
Returning to College Park is a full-circle moment for Schiller, who credits Maryland with helping shape his development as both a player and a person.
"I decided to come back to Maryland to continue the culture of championships and success to give back to the program that helped propel me forward in my hockey career," Schiller said.
Following his graduation from Maryland in 2023 Schiller has coached at the University of Durham in England while working through his postgraduate studies. Schiller also had the opportunity to coach at the indoor world cup in Nottingham in 2026.
"I'm passionate about field hockey because it has provided me with so many incredible opportunities across my life that have shaped me into the person I am today, both as an athlete and as a coach," Schiller said.
Coach Missy Meharg added "It is with extreme pleasure and excitement to bring Dean back into Maryland Hockey. His wealth of playing and coaching experiences in the States and globally will resonate with our 2026 22 member squad"
Senior goalkeeper Alyssa Klebasko added, "I'm so excited that Dean, a Terp alum, has joined the coaching staff! His positive energy, Maryland pride and technical understanding of the game will help us continue to grow and develop as individuals and as a team!"
Schiller has local ties to the DMV and is originally from Alexandria Virginia and attended Alexandria City High School.
