COLLEGE PARK, MD — Laurin Mack and Rodrigo Neri each earned Big Ten weekly honors, as Mack was named Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week and Neri was selected as Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday, Sept. 1.
Mack delivered a standout performance in Maryland's 1-0 victory over No. 9 High Point, recording a regular-season career-high six saves. With the Terps clinging to a one-goal lead, Mack came up with a crucial save in the 88th minute to preserve the shutout and secure the Top-10 victory.
Neri provided the game-winning moment in the 81st minute, scoring the first goal of his collegiate career to lift No. 4 Maryland past No. 9 High Point, 1-0. The freshman's late strike proved to be the difference in the Top-10 showdown, helping the Terps remain unbeaten to open the 2026 season.
