(9/3/20): How Maryland soccer’s Anissa Mose went from international dance competitions to the pitch

As a Senior (Spring 2021): Academic All-Big Ten…Played in eight games, starting in all eight…played full time in four matches…played in all 110 minutes in 1-1 draw with Michigan State (2/20). 

As a Junior (2019): Appeared in 19 games and started 16 primarily as outside back and defensive midfielder...notched four shots and three shots on goal (.750)...scored first goal of the season in opening five minutes and notched an assist in 6-2 victory over Illinois (10/6)...took one shot on goal forcing a save at Georgia (9/1)...played 102 minutes and made one shot on goal in 1-1 draw against Temple (9/12)...played the full 90 minutes in five games of the regular season...played 107 minutes for a season high at George Washington (9/7)...Academic All-Big Ten.

As a Sophomore (2018): Appeared in all 19 games and started 18… notched 12 shots and seven shots on goal (.583)... logged 78 minutes in season debut start against William & Mary (8/16)... recorded one shot on goal in 76 minutes in start at JMU (8/19)... scored one goal on one shot in 61 minutes against Appalachian State (8/24)... notched two shots in 75 minutes during start at Navy (8/26)... recorded two shots on goal in 41 minutes during start at Temple (8/31)... played 100 minutes in start at Drexel (9/2)... logged 110 minutes in start at UCF (9/6)... started and played 110 minutes against George Washington (9/9)... played 74 minutes in start against Iowa (9/14)... logged 92 minutes in start against Nebraska (9/16)... scored a goal on one shot in 91 minutes in start against Rutgers (9/23)... played 80 minutes in start at Minnesota (9/27)... started and played 110 minutes at #22 Wisconsin (9/30)... notched one shot in full 90 minutes during start against Illinois (10/4)... recorded one shot on goal in 73 minutes against #14 Northwestern (10/7)... logged 71 minutes in start at Penn State (10/12)... notched one shot in 91 minutes at Ohio State (10/14)... recorded one shot in 87 minutes during start at Michigan (10/18)... notched one shot on goal in season finale against Indiana (10/21)...Academic All-Big Ten.

As a Freshman (2017): Played 18 games and started 14 in midfield…played 54 minutes in her career debut against Drexel (8/18)…notched her first career start assist in a 3-0 win against Navy (8/20)…started and played 45 minutes at Gardner-Webb (8/25)…started and played 87 minutes at Furman (8/27)…notched a shot in 82 minutes in a 1-0 overtime win against Richmond (8/31)…started and played 47 minutes in a win at George Mason (9/3)…appeared against William & Mary (9/7) and had two shots at Rutgers (9/17)…started and played 90 minutes at Illinois (9/22) and Northwestern (9/24)…started the last 10 games of the year, including against Wisconsin (9/29) and Minnesota (10/1)…played 69 minutes at Nebraska (10/5) and logged a shot in 45 minutes at Iowa (10/8)…started and played 81 minutes against Ohio State (10/11) and 61 minutes against Penn State (10/15)…played 105 minutes against Michigan State (10/21) and the full 90 against Purdue (10/25).

Before Maryland: Played for Bishop McNamara…scored nine goals and tallied five assists as a senior…named first-team All-WCAC as a senior and was a team captain and team MVP…also awarded Team MVP as a junior and sophomore…two-time All-WCAC second team selection…named an honorable mention All-WCAC performer as a freshman…coached by Dave Mongey…played club for Maryland United FC under head coach Harry Canellakis…helped Maryland United win the U-15 ECNL North American Cup in 2014…won the U-14 Bethesda Cup Championship second in 2012.

Personal: Daughter of Carlyle and Chandricka Mose…also an accomplished dancer who finished second at a World Dance Showcase in Germany in 2009…participated in a Classical and African dance programs in high school…was on her high school honor role for four years.
