COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Georgia Schweitzer scored a game-high 25 points and led three teammates in double figures to lead No. 14-ranked Duke to a 79-61 Atlantic Coast Conference women's basketball victory over the University of Maryland Monday night at Cole Field House.

The Blue Devils improved to 13-1 overall and 2-0 in ACC play with their 11th straight victory. The Terps dropped to 8-4 overall and 0-2 in ACC action.

Schweitzer connected on 8 of 12 shots from the field, including 4 of 7 from 3-point range, and also pulled down nine rebounds. Peppi Browne added 21 points and a game-high 11 rebounds, and Krista Gingrich added 14 points. Maryland was led by Marche Strickland, who had 14 points, and Deedee Warley, who chipped in 12.

Duke, last year's NCAA runner-up, shot 53.8 percent from the field for the game, including a blistering 66.7 percent in the second half, to overcome 20 turnovers. The Terps shot 37.5 percent from the field for the game and just 29.7 percent in the second half.

The Terps, who trailed 35-31 at halftime, fell behind by 11 points midway through the second half but rallied to close to within four, 60-56, with 7:32 remaining. But Duke responded with a 13-1 run - including seven points by Browne - to go up 73-57 with 2:35 left. The Terps could get no closer.
