COLLEGE PARK, Md. - No. 8-ranked North Carolina State overcame a late deficit and scored 10 of the game's final 11 points Thursday night as the Atlantic Coast Conference-leading Wolfpack outlasted the Maryland Terrapins, 74-66, at Cole Field House. The Terrapins, 13-10 overall and 4-8 ACC, dropped their second game in a row for only the first time this season.

Maryland and NC State, 19-4 overall and 10-2 in the ACC, traded offensive bursts throughout the first half and well into the second, but a 10-1 Wolfpack run over the final five minutes decided the game. Five Wolfpack players scored in double-figures, led by 15 points apiece from center Kaayla Chones and forward Amy Simpson. Terah James scored 14 points while Talisha Scates had 12 and Tynesha Lewis added 10.

Maryland led by as many as nine points in the first half and enjoyed its largest lead at 51-40 before the 'Pack went on a 19-3 run to assume control with 11:23 to play. The Terps answered, themselves, and led 65-64 after Deedee Warley's pair of free throws gave Maryland its final lead of the contest.

Shooting guard March? Strickland had a game-high 16 points for the Terrapins, stroking seven out of eight from the free throw line. Sophomore Warley registered her second double-double of the season with 14 points (6 of 9 from the field) and 11 boards, while senior point guard Tiffany Brown contributed 15 points, including a four-for-eight 3-point effort.

The Terrapins hit the road for a matchup against Florida State this Sunday, Feb. 13 in what will be Maryland head coach Chris Weller's 300th career conference game. She will become the first coach in ACC history to reach that milestone.
