COLLEGE PARK, Md. -

Led by a career-high 21 points from Jamecca Harrell (Oxon Hill, Md.), Maryland got ACC win No. 1 in a 70-59 decision over Clemson on Wednesday night at Allfirst Court at Cole Field House.

In the conference opener for both schools, the Terps and Tigers stayed neck-and-neck most of the first half. Maryland's consistent shooting from beyond the arc (6-of-8 in the first half) was the Terps hallmark throughout the first half. Despite an unbelievable half of long-range shooting, a balanced Clemson attack led by Chrissy Floyd who had seven first-half points gave the Tigers a 27-26 lead at the half.

It was all Maryland in the second half. The Terps ran past Clemson on both ends of the court creating steals and running the court well. Harrell posted Maryland's first double-double of the seven-game old season, grabbing 11 rebounds to go with her 21 points. Previously, Harrell had scored a total only 18 points for the season.

Additionally, sophomore Kiki Wimbush (Suitland, Md.) set a new career-best for assists by posting 11 against the Tigers.

Floyd scored 20 points and was the only Tiger in double-figures. Clemson now falls to 3-3. March? Strickland (Kingston, Mass.) added 15 points for Maryland, while Terrapin junior Terri Daniels (Ellicott City, Md.) scored a season-high 12 points off the bench.

Maryland is now 5-2 and hosts No. 21 Penn State on Saturday at 2 p.m. on Allfirst Court at Cole Field House.
