COLLEGE PARK, Md. - In the battle of the third-place teams in the ACC, the University of Maryland women's basketball squad (15-8, 6-6 ACC) dropped a 77-65 home decision to Florida State (15-8, 7-5 ACC) Sunday at Cole Field House. The win gave FSU a two-win road swing, while the Terps lost their second-straight home game.

In the first half, Maryland and Florida State battled back-and-forth through nine leads changes. The Seminoles led by as much as four points with just over eight minutes remaining, when FSU's Molly Beal nailed a three-pointer off a pass from Katelyn Vujas. Maryland's March? Strickland (Kingston, Mass.) answered immediately from beyond the arc with her own three-pointer two minutes later to bring the Terps within one again. It wasn't until a 7-1 run to end the half that Maryland earned the six-point advantage it would take into the lockerroom, the largest lead for either team of the half.

Maryland stretched the lead to eight points coming out of the half, but would pull ahead no further. Florida State pulled ahead at 15:56, and never relinquished the lead. The Terps would come as close as one again, until the 12-minute mark when back-to-back buckets by FSU's April Traylor made it a 45-40 Florida State advantage. Maryland would draw as close as three again with 9:33 remaining, but the Seminoles would not let he lead slip away. Florida State widened the gap to as much as 14 before ending the game with a 12-point win, 77-65. Brooke Wycoff had 14 second-half points and ended the day as the game's high scorer with 20. Levys Torres also had 11 second-half points for the Seminoles, and finished with a double-double (14 points, 10 rebounds).

For The Terps, it was Strickland who led four players in double figures, notching 16 and pulling down a team-high six rebounds. Freshman Kiki Wimbush (Suitland, Md.), sophomore Renneika Razor (New York, N.Y.), and junior Rosita Melbourne (Washington, Md.) all had 12 points for the Terrapins.

Maryland heads to No. 4 Duke next. The Blue Devils lead the ACC with a 9-2 conference record. That game is Thursday, Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Florida State ended a two-game road stretch today, and hosts Wake Forest on Thursday at the Leon County Civic Center. Game time for the Seminoles is also 7 p.m.
