Women's Track Opens Competition At Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Sophomore Punnie Chittchang (Mount Airy, Md.) won the long jump with a leap of 19-3 1/4 and the 4x400 relay team set a season-best time as the Terps opened competition at the Penn Relays on Thursday.
Also faring well for Maryland was junior Thema Napier (Columbia, Md.), who took fourth in the 400 hurdles. Napier finished in 59.32, just off her season-best time of 59.15 set at the Terrapin Invitational. The 4x400 relay team took fifth in one of several heats, finishing with a time of 3:42.06.
Competition continues tomorrow and will conclude on Saturday.
