PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -
The Maryland women's 4x400 relay team broke a track and field school record on Saturday, finishing third at the Penn Relays with a time of 3:38.87.
The new top time eclipsed the previous mark of 3:39.53, set during the 1997 outdoor season.
The relay team consists of sophomores Tia Burley (Baltimore, Md.), Devenn Hamilton (Hampton, Va.), Dionne Hamilton (Hampton, Va.), as well as junior Thema Napier (Columbia, Md.). Devenn Hamilton, Burley, and Napier were members of the 4x400 relay team that set the indoor school record (3:41.57) last year.
The Terps will be in action again on May 5 at Penn State.
