Junior Thema Napier (Columbia, Md.) won the 400 hurdles and the 4x400 relay team took first to lead the Maryland women's track team at the Florida State Twilight Meet on Saturday.
Napier improved her NCAA provisional qualifying mark, winning the competition with a time of 59.08. The 4x400 relay team won with a time of 3:38.89.
Also faring well for the women's team was sophomore Natalie Dye (Myersville, Md.), who placed second in the pole vault with a mark of 11-10 1/2. In addition, sophomore Punnie Chittchang (Mount Airy, Md.) finished fourth in the long jump with a leap of 18-11 1/4.
On the men's side, junior Dontae Bugg (Newport News, Va.) took third in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.64. In addition, senior Cedrick Rogers (Fort Wayne, Ind.) finished fourth in the long jump with a mark of 23-0, and junior Dave Benaderet (Baltimore, Md.) placed ninth in the 400 with a time of 49.25.
The Terps kick off the postseason with the Eastern Colleges Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships and the Intercollegiate Association of Amateur American Athletes (IC4A) Championships next weekend in Princeton, N.J.
