PRINCETON, N.J. -
Nearly 20 members of Maryland's men's and women's track and field teams are in action here this weekend participating in the ECAC (women) and IC4A (men) track and field championships.
Through Saturday, Terp highlights have included the following: third- and eighth-place finishes in the long jump by Heather Houston (19-10 1/4) and Punnie Chittchang (19-4), a seventh-place finish in the heptathlon by Amber Stanley (4,683 points), a seventh-place finish in the hammer throw by Ruth Kura (170-3), an eighth-place finish in the shot put by Tracy Ojeniyi (45-8), and a ninth-place finish in the pole vault by Natalie Dye (11-5 3/4). In addition, Thema Napier on Saturday posted the second-fastest time in the prelims of the 400 hurdles (59.37) to advance to Sunday's finals. On the men's side, Cedrick Rogers placed fifth in the long jump (24-4 1/2).
Entering Sunday's action, the Maryland women were in 12th place (12 points), the men were in a tie for 26th (4 points).
