COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
The Maryland men's and women's track teams will compete at the
2001 U.S. Coaches Series Meet in University Park, Pa., on Saturday.
The meet, which will be held at the Nittany Lion Outdoor Track Complex, will be scored using the
international system. Only two scores from each team will count in each event, regardless of the number
of participants per team. In addition to Maryland and host Penn State, Akron and Missouri will round out
the field of competing teams.
The meet will provide athletes who have not yet qualified for ECAC, IC4A, or NCAA competition
to do so. Twelve members of the women's team have qualified for the ECAC Championships in
individual events, as well as the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams. Three individuals on the men's team and
the 4x100 relay team have qualified for IC4A Championships.
After this weekend's meet, the Terps will compete at Florida State to close out the regular
season. After that will be the Eastern Colleges of America Conference (ECAC) Championships and
Intercollegiate Association of Amateur American Athletes (IC4A) Championships, followed by the NCAA
Championships.
