Final Stats

COLLEGE PARK, MD - Anna Prillman tied a school record for three-pointers made in a half with six and led the Virginia women's basketball team to a 52-44 win over Maryland Thursday night in Cole Field House. Maryland falls to 9-8 (2-4 ACC), while the Cavaliers head home with a 10-7 (3-3 ACC) record.

Maryland and Virginia played a wild opening seven minutes with 10 total fouls being whistled including deep foul trouble for Maryland inside, which forced the Terps to alter their game plan from the get-go. Despite the personnel issues, Maryland held on for a six-point lead heading into halftime after weathering five lead changes. March? Strickland (Kingston, Mass.) had 15 of her team-high 18 points in the first half to pace the Terps.

The second half was just as intense at Cole Field House, as Maryland tried it's hand at a zone defense against the Cavs. That's when Prillman set fire, hitting three long-range bombs in the first five minutes of the second half to give Virginia a lead it would never relinquish. Before the end of the evening, Prillman hit six-out-of-seven shots from three-point range, and added another two points from the free-throw line for her game-high 20 points.

Strickland was the only double-figure scorer for the Terps. Virginia's other leading scorers were Telisha Quarles with 12 points and Brandi Teamer with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Maryland is back in action on Monday, Jan. 21, at Clemson's Littlejohn Coliseum at 4:30 p.m. Virginia is at Duke on Sunday, Jan. 20.
