COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
The University of Maryland football team will participate in its final action of this year's spring drills as it will show its wares in the 2002 Red & White Spring football game. Gates will open at Byrd Stadium at 2:00 p.m. while kickoff for the game is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
The Terrapins are coming off of their most successful season in recent history and are looking to build on that momentum towards a strong 2002 season. Consensus National Coach of the Year Ralph Friedgen and the Terps went 10-2 last season, won their first Atlantic Coast Conference championship since 1985 and earned a bid in the FedEx Orange Bowl.
Among the highlights scheduled for Saturday are an autograph session with the team, the public unveiling of the new football uniforms, an introduction of new head women's basketball coach Brenda Oldfield, a Sears Cup presentation and a number of Pepsi interactive games.
At the event, which coincides with the campus-wide Maryland Day, the first 3,000 students will receive a 2002 Maryland football t-shirt (with valid student ID). All fans attending will have the opportunity to take home a Maryland football bumper sticker.
Events will begin on the Byrd Stadium concourse at 3:00 p.m. and admission is free.
