GERMANTOWN, Md. -
The Maryland women's soccer defeated Georgia, 2-0 and tied Boston University, 1-1, in a pair of spring season games last Saturday, April 6, at the Kicks Against Breast Cancer Tournament held at the Germantown Soccerplex.
"We really got into a good rhythm," said coach Shannon Higgins-Cirovski. "We showed a lot of confidence in playing a real solid team in Georgia. We showed we can be potent on the attack. We possessed the ball for a lot of the time and the players performed well together."
Against Georgia, the Terps jumped out to a 1-0 lead as Kimmy Francis took a pass from Katie Ludwig and scored on a breakaway. Audra Poulin made a 2-0 as she scored off a pass from Jen Biscoe.
In the second game, Maryland tied Boston University, 1-1. The Terps broke out to a 1-0 lead as Ludwig slammed home a pass from Biscoe from about 19 yards out. The play began off a patented Lindsay Givens' throw-in. The Terriers tied the game in the final minutes.
The Terps co-host a tournament on Saturday, April 13 with George Mason which will be held at Ludwig Field. Some of the top club teams will visit College Park to take on the Terps and Patriots. Action will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
