University of Maryland women's lacrosse players Courtney Hobbs (West Lakes, South Australia) and Kelly Coppedge (Annapolis, Md.) were named to the 2002 Division I IWLCA/USL South Region All-American teams today. Hobbs, a senior, was named to the first team while Coppedge, just a sophomore, earned second team mention.
Hobbs led the Terrapins in scoring this year with 87 points as well as team-high numbers in goals (55) and assists (32). She averaged 4.14 points per contest while grabbing a team-high 61 ground balls. Her point total was the eighth-best in school history while her goal and assist totals also rank in the Maryland top 10 for a single season. She ended her career with 207 points, 10th-best in Terp lore.
Coppedge has two years remaining on a career that has started with promise. This year, she was the team's second-leading scorer with 75 points while posting 50 goals and 25 assists. She and Hobbs were both named All-ACC selections earlier this year.
