Maryland (8-4) trailed for most of the first half. A 12-4 run capped by a freshman C'Vette Henson (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) three-pointer at 4:20 put the Terps ahead 22-19. Georgetown did not allow the Terps to hold on to their lead for long, knotting the score at 26 on a Mary Lisicky trey to close out the half. Sophomore Chrissy Fisher (Rumson, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven).
Maryland had to overcome 50 percent second-half shooting by Georgetown, but fought back to send the game into overtime. The Hoyas came out firing on all cylinders, making all three of their shots to open the period to take a 35-28 advantage. Again, Maryland was behind but stayed close, never trailing by more than 8 points. Henson hit on another three as the Terps made a late surge and came to within 57-56. Junior Alli Spence (Lafayette, Colo./Chatfield) gave Maryland a one-point lead on the next possession with a jumper, 58-57. A Maryland foul gave the Hoyas the opportunity to take the game, but Bethany LeSueur converted on just one of two free throws to tie the game at the end of regulation.
In the overtime, the Terps took the first lead with senior Delvona Oliver (Euclid, Ohio/Euclid) sinking a layup. The Hoyas responded to take the lead, 61-60. Maryland, however, went on to outscore Georgetown, 6-2, down the stretch, including a driving layup by Spence to seal the win for the Terps.

Oliver ended the game with 13 points and seven rebounds and Henson sunk four three-pointers to tie her career high with 12 points. Spence rounded out the double-digit scorers, netting 10.
