Coppedge Garners ACC Women's Lacrosse Honors

March 31, 2003

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland's Kelly Coppedge was named this week's Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week after leading the second-ranked Terrapins to wins over No. 11 Penn State and No. 16 Ohio State.

The junior midfielder led all scorers with three goals, including the game winner in the 11-10 Maryland victory on March 28 over PSU. Coppedge's second goal of the game, which put the Terps ahead 4-3, was the 100th of her career. She also added two assists in the game.

At Ohio State two days later, the Annapolis, Md., native scored twice in the 10-5 win, leading Maryland to its ninth 10-0 start in school history.

The honor marked the second time in three weeks that Coppedge has been named the conference's player of the week and the fifth time in six weeks for the Terrapins as a team. The Terps -- who last week became the ninth team in school history to start a season 10-0 -- will match-up against two non-conference opponents this week, when they travel to No. 4 Georgetown on April 2nd before hosting No. 10 James Madison on April 5th at Byrd Stadium.
