April 14, 2003

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - University of Maryland junior Kelly Coppedge was named this week's Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week after leading the No. 2 Terrapins to wins over William & Mary and No. 19 John's Hopkins. It marks the third time she has earned the conference's recognition this season.

The Annapolis, Md., native scored 13 goals in Maryland's two victories last week, including a career single-game high of seven goals versus the Blue Jays. The junior's 47 goals on the season are both a team and league high.

Over the week, the midfielder also caused four turnovers, collected three ground balls and recorded eight draw controls.

The Terps are the No. 1 seed in this weekend's ACC Championship and will face off against the fourth-seeded Tar Heels in opening-round action at 1:00 pm on Friday, April 18.
