COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland moved to 5-6 (3-5 ACC) on the season with today's 13-7 win over Wake Forest (4-7, 1-7 ACC) at Byrd Stadium.

  • The Terrapins now hold a 39-13-1 advantage in the all-time series and have won six straight, the most since 1980-85.
  • With the win, head coach Ralph Friedgen (36-14) becomes the winningest fourth-year coach in Atlantic Coast Conference history as he now has 36 career wins. The win breaks a tie Friedgen had with Clemson's Danny Ford who had 35 wins (35-10-1) in his first four seasons with the Tigers.
  • Junior Josh Allen's 13-yard run in the first quarter broke a string of eight quarters without a touchdown for Maryland and moved Allen up on the school's all-time rushing TD list. His fifth of the year, the score gave Allen 21 for his career, tying him for sixth all time with Ed "Big Mo" Modzelewski (1949-51).
  • Allen's day ended in the second quarter when he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. He finished the day with 18 carries for 74 yards and the TD and finishes the season 11th on the Terp career rushing list with 1,860 yards.
  • Sophomore Sam Hollenbach got his first career start today and played well. He finished 16-of-27 for 164 yards with zero interceptions.
  • Senior placekicker Nick Novak finished the day with seven points on two field goals and one PATs. Novak now finishes his career as the leading scorer in ACC history and ranks tied for 5th on the all-time NCAA career scoring list with 393 points. In today's game, he surpassed Nebraska's Kris Brown (6th, 388 points, 1995-98), and tied FSU's Derek Schmidt (5th, 393, 1984-87).
  • With 3.5 TFLs today, junior Shawne Merriman moved into seventh on the Maryland career list with 33.0. Merriman also had 2.5 sacks giving him 22 for his career, a total which ranks him second on the Terp career list behind only Mike Corvino, who totaled 24.0 sacks from 1979-82.
  • Today marked the first time this season that Wake Forest has been shut out in the first half. The last time the Demon Deacons were shut out in the first half was Oct. 11, 2003 against Georgia Tech, a span that covers 16 games.
  • With a start in today's Senior Day game, his last as a Terp, OT C.J. Brooks finished his career with 51 starts, most ever by a Maryland player.
  • Today's attendance was 48,226. For the season, the Terps are averaged 51,411 fans per home game, marking the second-highest season average since records began to be kept in 1950 (highest average was 52,322 in 1985).
