Box Score

BOULDER, Colo. - No. 22/22 Maryland cruised to a 76-56 victory over Pennsylvania on the second day of the Coors Classic on Saturday night at the Coors Center. Freshman Laura Harper was named to the five-player all-tournament team.

With the score tied at 11-11, Maryland went on a 14-2 run over a five-minute span in the first half, pulling away from the Quakers and taking a 25-13 lead. Penn scored only four more points in the final six minutes of the period and the Terps added to their lead, taking a 34-17 lead into the locker room.

Defensively, Maryland did not allow Penn to get into an offensive rhythm, limiting the Quakers to just 19 percent shooting in the period. Freshman Crystal Langhorne (Willingboro, N.J./Willingboro) led all scorers with 10.

The Terps scored the first five points of the second half, pushing their lead to 22 points, 39-17. A 6-0 Penn run, however, brought it to within 39-25. The Quakers cut the lead to 14 points with 11:09 left in the game, 47-33, after the Terps pushed the advantage back up to 18 points, but would get no closer.

The teams traded baskets in the latter part of the half, keeping the Maryland lead to around an 18 point cushion. A C'Vette Henson (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) trey with 1:16 remaining in the game, gave Maryland its biggest lead of the game, 76-53.

Langhorne finished with 16 points, tying with Sophomore Shay Doron (Great Neck, N.Y./Christ the King), to lead the team as every Terrapin saw playing time. Langhorne also had eight boards while Harper (Elkins Park, Md./Cheltenham) grabbed a game-high nine rebounds. Sophomore Kalika France (Forestville, Md./Bishop McNamara) netted 11 points.

The Quakers improved their shooting in the second half, connecting on 41.7 percent of their shots. However, no player on the Penn roster registered double-figure scoring as the Terps posted 10 blocks with Harper and freshman Jade Perry (Central City, Ky./Muhlenburg North) posting three apiece.

Harper earned a spot on the all-tournament team after averaging 12.5 points, 12.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocks over the two games.

Maryland returns home to Comcast Center to host in-state rival Loyola on Tuesday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m.
