Postgame Quotes: Maryland 73, Wake Forest 56

Recap |  Box Score

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland Head Coach Brenda Frese
Opening Statement:
"We're fun to watch when we can put it together like we did in the second half with those kinds of runs. We had so many players step up. Obviously the game that Delvona had gave us a big inside presence. We really hit some big shots in the second half when we needed them and I thought we put together a great twenty-minute performance together in the second half to get this win."

On being third in the ACC standings:
"We value every game that we play and we know that it's going to come down to the wire. Like we talked about before the game, we have an opportunity to finish anywhere from second to eighth in the league because everyone is so jumbled together at the top. We take pride in what we need to get done and we want to follow this game up by continuing to play hard and good things will follow."

On Maryland's three-point shooting:
"Early on we missed some shots but it was good to see that we had confidence to keep shooting it and seemed to have a domino effect. We got big shots from Chrissy, Alli and Shay and we really feed off that kind of energy. It makes us a difficult team to stop when you have an inside presence like Delvona to go along with the outside presence. We were really clicking on all cylinders tonight."

On Thursday's matchup with Florida State at the Comcast Center:
"We were disappointed in our performance down there in not being able to finish the game. It's going to come down to rebounding. We need to have every player involved in order to have success on both the offensive and defensive boards."

Maryland Guard Chrissy Fisher
On how the inside game opens up the outside:
"You get Delvona the ball and she's going to score almost every time. When they double down, we kick it back out for a wide open three. We help each other out. If they're going to cover her, I'll be wide open, and if they're going to cover me, she'll be wide open."

On the team's confidence level:
"We're really confident right now. We know what we need to get done and we're willing to work hard to do it. We can finish anywhere from third to eighth in the conference, so we just have to take it one game at a time. We know that we're competitors and we can finish third if we want to. As long as we put that time in, we should be alright."

Maryland Guard Shay Doron
On the rest of the season:
"Every game is equally important so we just have to come out and play hard. We did that tonight, especially in the second half, and it showed."
