COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
Terrapins Delvona Oliver and Renneika Razor have both signed free agent contracts with the WNBA's New York Liberty and will participate in training camps beginning this weekend. Current coaching staff member Tamara Bowie has also signed a contract with the nearby Washington Mystics.
"We're extremely proud that not just one but three terrific individuals, who have all played an essential part of our program, have the opportunity to compete and play at the next level. We wish them all the best," said Maryland head coach Brenda Frese.
A forward/center while with the Terps the last two seasons, Oliver (Euclid, Ohio/Euclid) is coming off of a successful season where she helped Maryland to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. She scored a career-high tying 22 points in the first round, leading the team to the program's first tournament win in 12 years. Averaging 11.1 points and 5.8 rebounds per game in 2003-04, she was named Honorable Mention All-ACC and was selected All-ACC Tournament after averaging 13.0 ppg and 8.0 rpg at the conference tournament.
Razor (New York, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) spent four seasons in a Terps uniform from 2000-03. For her career, she averaged 9.9 ppg and 5.0 rpg. The 20th 1,000-point scorer in school history, she became the 10th Terp in the program's history to finish her career in the top 20 in scoring (18th - 1,163 pts.) and top 15 in rebounding (12th - 585). Razor is also fourth in the Maryland record books with 266 career steals. In 2001, she was an Honorable Mention All-ACC selection and a second team all-conference pick as a senior.
Bowie joined the Maryland staff this season after graduating from Ball State in 2003. A two-time Mid-American Conference Player of the Year, she was voted a Division I Kodak All-American Honorable Mention for the third-straight year in her final season, becoming the only Cardinal in school history to earn such an honor three times. The most decorated player in school history, she left Ball State as the program's all-time leading scorer.
