April 28, 2004

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The latest Terrapin signed a National Football League free agent contract and Maryland can now claim to have 12 players from last year's team who will be in NFL camps this preseason. The Terps had five players drafted in the seven-round draft last weekend -- most in the first seven rounds since 1984 -- and had another seven players signed after the draft as free agents.

The seventh and final free agent signee was a local one as offensive tackle Eric Dumas was inked by the Baltimore Ravens. Dumas is joined by OG Lamar Bryant (Atlanta Falcons), CB Curome Cox (Atlanta Falcons), QB Scott McBrien (Green Bay Packers), SS Dennard Wilson (Washington Redskins), WR Jafar Williams (Washington Redskins) and WR Latrez Harrison (New England Patriots) as players who will get their shot this spring and summer.

On April 24th and 25th, FS Madieu Williams (2nd rd., Bengals), DT Randy Starks (3rd rd., Titans), LB Leon Joe (4th rd., Bears), TE Jeff Dugan (7th rd., Vikings) and Bruce Perry (7th rd., Eagles) were selected in the draft, giving the Terps five players taken in one year since the '80s.

The current group of Terps just wrapped up the 2004 spring session and will open their '04 campaign on Sept. 4 against Northern Illinois at Byrd Stadium. For season ticket information, call (800) 462-TERP or (301) 314-7070.
