WNBA's Washington Mystics to Play at Comcast Center

April 29, 2004

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Washington Mystics Senior Vice President of Business and Basketball Operations Judy Holland Burton announced today that the team has changed the location of its June 13th home game vs. the New York Liberty. Due to the Madonna concert on the same day, the game has been moved from MCI Center to Comcast Center on the Campus of the University of Maryland, College Park. The time of the game will remain 2:00 p.m.

"This is a tremendous opportunity for the Washington Mystics and the WNBA to play in the Comcast Center, a facility that is known for its exceptional basketball programs," said Holland Burton. "With the success that the Mystics have enjoyed in the metro area and the popularity of women's college basketball, it was a natural fit for us to play on the campus of the University of Maryland."

Comcast Center is home to the University of Maryland women's and men's basketball teams. The facility was completed in the fall of 2002 and also houses the university's athletic administration offices.

"It is a pleasure to host a professional women's basketball game at one of the best basketball facilities in the country on the campus of the University of Maryland," said Maryland Athletics Director Deborah A. Yow. "The Mystics represent the future opportunities for collegiate players and we are excited to have them on our campus as well as their loyal fans."
