The Collegiate Women Sports Awards today announced that Kelly Coppedge is one of four finalists for the Honda Award in women's lacrosse. As a finalist, $1,000 will be donated by American Honda to the women's athletic fund at Maryland.
The other finalists are Virginia's Amy Appelt, James Madison's Gail Decker and Princeton's Theresa Sherry. The winner will be decided by nationwide voting among NCAA member schools and will then become a nominee for The Honda-Broderick Cup awarded annually to the nation's outstanding collegiate woman athlete of the year. The winner's program will receive a $5,000 donation to its women's athletic fund.
Coppedge finished her career as one of the most prolific scorers in Terrapin history, scoring 219 goals, 81 assists and amassing 300 points in her career. She is a three-time All-ACC selection and a two-time All-American. Coppedge is also one of five finalists for this year's Tewaaraton Award, which will be awarded on June 5th.
