  • Maryland Signs No. 4 Recruiting Class in the Nation

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland recruit Marissa Coleman scored a game-high 19 points in last night's McDonald's All-American girls game. However, the East team fell to the West, 80-64, in South Bend, Ind. Kristi Toliver, who will also be playing in a Maryland uniform next season, also represented the east team, dishing out a team-best four assists. Fans can watch the future Terrapins tonight, Thursday night, at 5:30 p.m. on ESPN2.

Listed as a 6-1 small forward, Coleman (Cheltenham, Md.) went 7-for-15 from the field en route to 19 points in 21 minutes of playing time. She also knocked down a pair of three-pointers in the game. Coleman, who graduates from St. John's High School in Washington, D.C., averaged 20.4 points per game in her senior year.

Toliver (Harrisonburg, Va.) had just two points, but handed out a game-high tying four assists. A 5-8 point guard, she will be graduating from Harrisonburg High School later in the spring.

It is the third-straight year future Terps have played in the McDonald's All-America game. Current freshmen Crystal Langhorne (Willingboro, N.J.) and Laura Harper (Elkins Park, Pa.) were members of the East team last year. Sophomore Shay Doron (Great Neck, N.Y.) played in the game in 2003.

Maryland head coach Brenda Frese's recruiting class of Coleman and Toliver was rated the fourth-best in the nation by the Blue Star Report. Frese has lured two-consecutive top-five recruiting classes and three-straight top-10 classes.
