COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
Future Terrapin women's basketball players Marissa Coleman and Kristi Toliver were named to USA Today's All-USA Girls Team. Coleman earned a spot on the first team, while Toliver was selected to the second team. Making up the fourth-ranked recruiting class in the nation, both players have signed National Letters of Intent to play for head coach Brenda Frese and the University of Maryland beginning the fall of 2005.
Coleman (Cheltenham, Md./St. John's) was also recently named All-Met Player of the Year by the Washington Post. She played in the McDonald's All-America game, where she led all scorers with 19 points. A 6-1 guard, Coleman also netted 13 points and had six rebounds at the WBCA All-America game in Indianapolis, en route to Red Team Most Valuable Player honors.
A 5-8 point guard, Toliver (Harrisonburg, Va./Harrisonburg) was a member of the East team along with Coleman in the McDonald's All-America game, but played against her soon-to-be teammate at the WBCA All-America contest, going 4-for-7 from the field for nine points.
The Terps went 22-10 in 2004-05, reaching the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the second-consecutive year. Maryland returns four starters next season, including first team All-ACC performer Shay Doron and the ACC's Rookie of the Year and second team all-conference selection Crystal Langhorne.
