Competitive Cheer Heads To Florida For Nationals

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland Competitive Cheerleading squad heads to Florida this weekend for the National Cheerleading Association's National Championships. They will compete against nineteen other collegiate teams including Louisville the three time defending National Champions.

"We are at our best," says coach Lura Fleece. The girls who are competing are in the best shape that they have been in all season. Maryland's routine has enough difficulty to make them a strong contender for a top placement.

The routine is complete with Mimi Cuff and Valerie Town performing two double full basket tosses. The team will also throw two double full tumbling passes.

In the team's second season they are going into the competition with high spirits looking for a win. The squad feels confident in their routine, difficulty, and ability to compete on the highest level.
