BALTIMORE, Md. -- The Terrapin competitive cheer squad has made its mark on both the regional and national scene, winning back-to-back contests in February. Maryland's latest win came at the 2004 American Masters Championship, held Feb. 7-8 at the Baltimore Convention Center.
"We were in first place on both days," head coach Lura Fleece said. "There were no falls and we hit our routine right on."
Every regional appearance helps Maryland prepare for the ultimate prize, the National Cheerleading Association Championship in late March. The Terps have two more regional competitions before they gear up for Nationals. The squad will travel to Atlantic City, NJ, on Feb. 21 to compete in the Spirit Unlimited competition.
