HARRISBURG, Pa. -- The University of Maryland's competitive cheer team placed first at the Capital City Classic, winning its fourth consecutive title in its inaugural season. The Terps defeated PA Elite, the squad from Elmira College and the Rainbow All-Stars to claim the title.
"We did our new routine and the team did pretty well," head coach Lura Fleece said. "We nailed both of the pyramids, which was a big focus in our practices."
The squad will showcase its new routine one more time, at the Cheerleaders of America on Mar. 20 in Upper Marlboro, Md. From there, the team will travel to Daytona, Fla. for the National Cheerleading Association Championships.
